Come down to The Rowers Café by the water to celebrate the debut of our General Manager, Jimmy Hazelwood's latest release, "Native Ambition." The album will be available on streaming platforms in January, with an exclusive early listening opportunity on CD and Vinyl starting November 30th.
Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, Jimmy Hazelwood is a Mosman based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known for his vibrant contributions to the folk, indie and alternative scenes. With gritty, contemplative vocals and catchy guitar riffs, Jimmy’s music masterfully fuses the acoustic qualities of folk music with the laid-back energy of easy listening in his own unique style.
The album, created in collaboration with other talented Mosman Rowers Club musicians including Zac Newton-John and Zac Harvey, includes tracks recorded at the club during lockdown. Titled Native Ambition, this concept album draws inspiration from true stories, many of which stem from Hazelwood’s childhood on Waiheke Island, New Zealand. Four years in the making, ‘Native Ambition’ follows the success of ‘Native Ambition – First Dose’, which premiered to a sold-out crowd at the Mosman Art Gallery in 2022.
With doors open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start, Jimmy will be joined on the night by surprise special guest performers.
